Denali Fall

Denali Fall is a photograph taken on a trip to Denali National Park during the early part of the month of September.

The first part of September is prime time to experience the fall color of the Alaska Tundra.

It is still the summer to most of the United States, but it is Fall in Alaska.  It starts early in the far north.

I took a trip to Denali in the Fall a few years ago to specifically photograph a landscape like Denali Fall.  It was breathtaking to see the tundra.  Orange, red and yellow colors of the tundra create a mosaic across the landscape.

The often cloudy Alaska sky may block the view of the “Great One” (Mt. McKinley or Denali); but it provides great soft lighting for the colors of the tundra.

Denali Fall was taken near the “end of the road” in Denali, the end of the road meaning the part of the road that is available for visitors in their own automobiles to venture into the park.  From this point forward on the road only buses that transport visitors in the park can venture further.

But for me the gravel road beyond this point made a great place to walk and photograph the Denali Fall color.
