Sonoma Coast Mist
Sonoma Coast Mist is a photograph taken along the Sonoma Coast during a winter day. Sonoma Coast Mist captures the unique landscape and environment of the Sonoma Coast.
The Sonoma Coast Mist image is taken in the Sonoma Coast State Park. The Sonoma Coast is know for sandy beaches, rocky cliffs, secluded locations and breaking waves.
The fog bank that can often roll in from the Pacific Ocean can create beautiful light for an image like Sonoma Coast Mist. The fog is more present during the summer when the heat of the California Central Valley pulls the fog in from the Pacific. Often in the summer the beaches will be filled with Central Valley residents enjoying the respite from the valley heat. This fog bank can often stretch across the Pacific halfway to Japan.
The rocky shore and swift ocean in the Sonoma Coast Mist photograph are also unique characteristics of the Sonoma Coast. The beaches of the North Coast are not for swimming, strong rip currents of the heavy swells can make for a dangerous surf.
The Sonoma Coast Mist image was taken on a winter day. On this winter day it was clear throughout Sonoma County except at the coast. Along the coast on this day the fog was hovering and just touching the edge of the coast. If you would walk 100 yards inland you would be in sun, but along the beach the fog hovered and created a beautiful mist to the landscape. The sun was low in the horizon and was filtered by the fog creating beautiful light. Those traveling along the Pacific Coast Highway were provided with a beautiful view of this scenic part of the Sonoma County coastline.
I felt fortunate on this particular winter day to be able to see and experience the Sonoma County coastline and the misty fog that hovered above the coast. I felt lucky to live in such a beautiful area and to have a view like Sonoma Coast Mist to capture with my camera.
