Sunrise Wupatki Pueblo

The prime time to photograph the Wupatki Pueblo is during the colorful sunrise at the beginning of the day.

It is an easy place to photograph at that time of the day. Chances are at certain times of the year you may have the whole place to yourself. The sun rises and immediately strikes the the Pueblo at Wupatki National Monument lighting up the dwelling walls. The dwelling’s walls, many of which still stand, were constructed from flat red stones held together with mortar.

The settlement sites that our scattered throughout the monument were built by the Ancient Pueblo People, more specifically the Sinagua, Cohonina, and Kayenta Anasazi. Hopi believe the people who lived and died here remain as spiritual guardians.

Sunrise at Wupatki Pueblo is a time where you can appreciate the spirits of the Hopi.
